Figure 52: USB serial ports in Windows Device Manager
If fewer ports are listed, or if no ports are labeled "USB Serial Port," download and install the USB-to-
I/O drivers from the following website:
http://www.ftdichip.com/drivers/cdm/cdm21218_setup.zip
3. Configure the serial port connections.
Configuring the serial port connections requires console access through the OS serial port, using an
application such as PuTTY.
The StoreVirtual 3200 Storage system has two OS serial ports, one for each controller. The OS port
should be the third port listed in each series of four USB serial ports listed in the Device Manager.
Using USB serial ports in Windows Device Manager as an example, the OS ports would be COM7
and COM11; the series of four ports each are COM5–COM8 and COM9–COM12.
NOTE:
When connecting to one controller at a time, the controllers might reuse the COM port
numbering established by the previous controller. Therefore, the COM port might have the same
number for both controllers.
Using PuTTY (or similar application), identify the OS serial port on each controller.
a. Open PuTTY.
b. Under Connection type, select Serial.
c. In the Serial line field, select a COM port that is listed in the Device Manager.
