6. Review the cable connections to the library. If you need to disconnect the cables
to remove or replace a field replaceable unit (FRU), consider labeling the cables
so you can reconnect them correctly.
7. Determine whether you will need to take the library offline to service the library.
See “Required Library State for Repairs” on page 9-2.
8. Contact the library administrator to schedule a time to take the library offline, if
necessary. Before taking the library offline, ask the administrator to complete or
cancel any jobs that are in the queue.
9. Power OFF the library if required.
10. Add, remove, and replace each part, as necessary.
11. Power ON the library and run the appropriate diagnostic and library verification
tests in the Service Mode menu after servicing the library.
12. Take the library online after you finish adding, removing, and replacing all
necessary parts. See “Taking the Library Offline/Online” on page 7-23.
13. Clear all open Operator Interventions.
14. Verify that your host applications can communicate with all drives and the
library.
15. Generate another log of the status of the library after verifying that the library is
repaired and running smoothly.
16. Complete the steps in “End of Call” on page 7-26.
Service Mode Menu
The Service Mode menu on the Operator Panel gives service personnel access to
troubleshooting and maintenance diagnostic tools. This section describes menu items
that are used specifically by maintenance personnel when servicing the library.
