When to use the Stored Value Card Environment
When a system is set up for a 'Stored Value Card Environment' all relevant balance and account information is stored on the
user's card. This is comparable to the electronic purses the banks offer in various countries.
Some of the advantages are:

Each user takes more care of his card because his money is on this card

Can be used with non-networked payment systems
·
Even if the network is down a large number of transactions still can be done
