3 System set-up
3.1 Installation and configuration.
The Matrix MKII+ system is designed to be simple to interface to any ROV system, requiring
one single mode fibre for communication and 85-264VAC power to the subsea unit. The subsea
unit can also be powered with 120-370VDC. All functions are controlled from the touch
sensitive display on the topside unit, or via the web interface. No software installation is
necessary.
Installing and configuring the system is done following these steps:
1. Install the topside unit as described in section 3.2.2 below.
2. Power up the topside unit. If the web interface is to be used, set up the network interface
according to section 3.4.2 below.
3. Mount the subsea canister on the ROV, following the instructions in section 3.2.3 below.
Interface cables are provided for fibre and power connections.
4. Power up the subsea unit to verify that the fibre link is OK and the topside unit
communicates with the subsea unit. The LINK indicator should be green.
5. Configure the outputs according to the planned usage, following the instructions in
section 3.4.3 below.
6. Power off both units.
7. Connect all external equipment, following the instructions in section 3.3 below.
8. Power up both units, and turn on the required outputs. Verify that the external equipment
function as required, and that all data links are operational as needed.
9. The system is now ready for operation.
3.2 Installation on ROV
3.2.1 Unpacking the system
The Matrix MKII+ system is supplied in a transport case, containing:
• 1x multiplexer subsea canister
• 1x 19”, 3U multiplexer topside unit
• 1x Seacon 5501-2006 Pigtail
• 1x Seacon OPT-F-1 Fibre optic cable
• 1x Seacon OPT-F-1 Fibre optic connector for ROV interfacing
• 1x OPT-F-1 – Burton 20 Shell Adapter – With O-rings
• 1x SC-ST Fibre Female - Female Adapter
• 1x SC-ST Fibre Patch Male – Male
• 1x IEC Power cable
• Dummy connector kit:
• 7x Seacon MCBH8F Dummy - with locking sleeve
• 1x Seacon MCBH6F Dummy - with locking sleeve
• 3x Seacon MINL Dummy
• 3x Seacon 5500-2021 Dummy
• 1x Seacon 5500-2006 Dummy
