Figure 2 illustrates the signal path when running an electrical
terminate application.

When running a terminate application for a 1G optical signal,
events on the receiving SFP port (R/T 1) are analyzed, but a
separate, independent signal is generated and transmitted by
the HST. Analysis is restricted to the R/T 1 port.
Figure 3 illustrates the signal path when running a terminate
application for a 1G optical signal.
