Drive systems which are ouied with Lenze inverters of the "Extended Safety" variant
provide speed-dependent safety funcons for reliable speed monitoring and for reliable
posion monitoring.
For safe speed and posion detecon, you must connect a safety-rated motor/encoder
combinaon.

In order to enable the reavailability of the absolute posion aer mains

witching without a new reference run (load stored reference), encoders with
absolute value informaon that covers the enre traversing range must be used.

When using only one encoder in safety applicaons, theEN 61800‑5‑2 standard places
separate requirements on the connecon between the feedback system and the motor sha.
The oversized design prevents operaonal failures caused by encoder sha fracture or
encoder slippage on the motor sha. The acceleraon limit values in the drive soluons with a
resolver are not to be exceeded.
