Six pad clutch band
Clutch band with same
spring color
Remove the clutch band using a pair of
pliers to compress the spring in the clutch
and lift the band out. The six pad clutch
band can be ordered as a separate part.
6.
The clutch band spring needs to be
replaced with the same color spring. Inside
the spring is a sound dampener sponge that
must be replaced if it is removed.
7.
Spread the clutch band to remove the
spring and the clips at each end of the
spring.
8.
When only needing to remove or replace
the clutch band, it can be done without
totally removing the transmission and
clutch from the washer. Just lower the
transmission as shown earlier and reach
into the clutch with a pair of pliers to
compress the clutch band spring and lift the
band out of the clutch.
Remove the spring and end caps and then
pass the clutch band past the transmission
shaft.
On the under side of the clutch is an anti-
rattle clip. Remove the clip by pulling it out
of the clutch drum.
