18.1.4 Secondary T1/E1 Processor
The second T1/E1 port is supported by the Secondary T1/E1 Processor (STEP)
card. The STEP is an optional daughterboard that is installed in connector J6 of
the DIM. The main components of the STEP are the T1/E1 framer and
impedance-matching hardware.
18.1.5 Digital Voice Processor
The Digital Voice Processor (DVP) is a daughterboard that provides compression/
decompression for 6 PCM voice channels. Up to 5 DVPs can be installed on th
DIM to support a total of 30 voice channels. The main component of the DVP is
the C.54 Digital Signal Processor (DSP) which is suitable for G.729, G726, and
G.711 compression. The DVPs can be installed in any or all of the following
connectors: J1, J2, J3, J4 and J5.
18.1.6 DIM Connector Plate
