21.3 Standard I/O Card Installation
Standard I/O cards are defined as cards which use only the 120-pin edge connector
for mounting into the motherboard expansion slot. Standard I/O cards include:
• Multi I/O*
• V.24 Serial I/O*
• V.35EU Serial I/O*
• V.35H Serial I/O*
• X.21 Serial I/O*
• Universal I/O*
• CSU/DSU I/O*
• ISDN-U I/O
• ISDN-S/T I/O
• DDVC**
• V.34 Modem*
• T1/E1 I/O*
• DIM I/O
• Ethernet LAN I/O
• Fast Ethernet LAN I/O
• Token Ring I/O
* A Serial Expansion Module (SEM) is required if you are installing this card in slot
5-8.
**The Dual Digital Voice Compression (DDVC) card is not considered an I/O card,
although it occupies an I/O card slot. This card is used with the ISDN S/T
I/O card.
Procedure 4: Installing the Serial Expansion Module
This procedure assumes that you have installed or will install an I/O card in any of
slots 5 to 8 which requires a SEM.
This procedure assumes that you have removed the cover from the chassis
(Procedure 2).
To install the SEM:
1. Remove the SEM from its packaging.
