NOTICE
Scanners measure distances to diffuse reflections, which means that a
tolerance is added to the Protective field sets to secure a safe detection of
persons crossing the Protective field sets. The tolerance distance is 65 mm.
Muted Protective fields
When performing tasks that require the robot to move very close to surrounding objects, the
robot can be configured to mute the Protective fields. This happens automatically when the
robot docks to known markers such as charging stations or pallet racks, or you can manually
configure the Protective fields to mute during a mission if needed in a custom installation.
CAUTION
When the robot has muted Protective fields, it may not stop in time to avoid
collisions with obstacles or personnel in its path.
• Mark areas where the robot mutes its Protective fields as operating hazard
zones, and inform personnel not to enter the zone while the robot is
operating in it—see Using operating hazard zones on page157.
When muting the Protective fields, the robot does the following:
• Disables the Protective fields
• Decreases the maximum speed to 0.3 m/s
• Flashes the yellow signal lights
• Emits audible warning sounds if configured to do so in the safety system settings—see
Light indicators and speakers on page122.
