ATTENTION!
Also take into account any swaying movements of the platform and the aerial lines.
3.16.1. INSULATION (OPTIONAL)
On specific request, some platforms are built with insulation characteristics between the basket and the boom or between
the basket, the boom and the turret.
The resistance values are taken, under the rated insulation voltage, at the time of delivery. It is necessary to make sure that
these characteristics do not lapse.
ATTENTION!
Even if the platform is insulated, this does not protect the operator against electrocution from
contact between two conductors or between a conductor and earth.
In the resting position, the insulation is no longer effective.
IMPORTANT!
If it is necessary to service or change the hydraulic pipes, be careful of the fact that some pipes
may be insulating pipes without metal braids.
IMPORTANT!
The use of a fibreglass basket is not enough to state that the machine is insulated. Check this
requirement carefully before working on live elements.
3.17. WORKING IN THE PRESENCE OF GLASS PANES
Changes in wind force may cause problems in using the machine, such as loss of stability, oscillating basket and loss of
visibility due to dust in the air, leaves, etc.
Other unfavourable conditions that may jeopardize machine use are:
the workplace: the aerodynamic effect of buildings, trees and other structures can increase wind force;
height from the ground: the higher the basket, the stronger the wind;
load dimensions: the bigger the area taken up by the load, the greater the impact of the wind force.
DANGER!
The platform can be used with wind speeds of up to 45 km/h, equal to 12.5 m/s (no. 6 on the
Beaufort Scale) measured at ground level.
The Beaufort Scale shown below indicates the conditions under which the machine can be used and those under which it
is advisable to stop working:
no. DESCRIPTION CONDITIONS SPEED (m/s)
0 Calm Smoke rises vertically. 0 - 0.2
1 Light air Smoke drift indicates wind direction. 0.3 - 1.5
2 Light breeze Wind felt on exposed skin; leaves rustle. 1.6 - 3.3
