7.5. EMERGENCY DESCENT OF THE CAGE-OPERATOR
In case of complete electrical failure of the platform, and in the case where all supply systems have broken down, the
emergency lowering of the cage-operator must be carried out.
The emergency descent procedure is illustrated here below.
IMPORTANT!
The ground assistance staff needs to be instructed and must have already performed manual
recovery operations in the past.
ATTENTION!
♦ If it can be carried out safely, evacuate any operators and materials from the cage first.
♦ If this is not possible, make sure that the operators have their safety belts on and that any
materials are tied down to prevent them from falling out of the cage.
IMPORTANT!
First of all, decide which movements need to be carried out to bring the cage under conditions of
safety, preferably retracting the telescopic booms as soon as possible and, in any case, prior to the
rotation and descent of the booms.
ATTENTION!
When operating the emergency controls, the automatic control and safety devices are no longer
operational. Hence, it is crucial that the operator who carries out this manoeuvre is duly trained in
this type of operations and that he has already carried them out during the training.
