Removing Models After Printing
Afterprintingmodels,youshouldallowthemtocoolasmuchaspossible
beforehandlingthem.Ifadditionalmodelsdonothavetobeproducedon
theEdenprinter,itisbesttolettheprintedmodelscool intheprinter,with
thecoverclosed,aslongaspossible.
If the Eden printer must be used to produce additional models as soon
as possible:
1. Lettheprintedmodelscoolonthebuildtrayforatleast10minutes.
2. Verycarefully,removethemodelsfromthetraywithascraperor
spatula(suppliedinthetoolkit),takingcarenottopryorbendthe
model.
3. Placethemodelsonaflatsurface,andcoverthemwithacardboard
boxorpaperhood.
Thisallowsthemodelstocoolslowlyandevenly.
4. Letthemodelscoolforseveralhours.
Removing the Support Material
Afterprintedmodelshavecooled,thesupportmaterialmustberemoved.
Thiscanbedonebydifferentmethods,dependingonthesizeofthemodel,
howdelicateitis,theamountandlocationofthesupportmaterial,and
otherfactors.Usethefollowingmethodsasaguide,andadaptthem(or
a
combinationofthem)forfinishingthe modelsyouarehandling.
Removing Excess Support Material by Hand
Whilewearingprotectivegloves,breakawayexcesssupport materialon
theoutsideofthemodel.Fordelicatemodels,useatoothpick,pinorsmall
brushafterdippingthemodelinwater .
Removing Support Material with Water Pressure
Formostmodels,themostefficientwaytoremovesupportmaterialisby
usingahighpressurewaterjet.Onesuitablesystemisthe BalcoWaterJet
cleaningunit,showninfigure 81onpage 83.Thisdeviceismarketedby
Objet.
WARNING: Wear protective gloves when handling printed models
before they are washed.
