First Aid for Working With Resins
Ingeneral,trytoavoiddirectcontactwithuncuredresin.Ifskinoreyes
comeintocontactwithresin,washtheareaimmediatelyandthoroughly
withwater,andfollowthefirst‐aidinstructionsbelow.
Contact with
Skin
Ifuncuredresincomesincontactwithskin,washtheaffectedarea
immediatelyandthoroughlywithsoapandcoolwater,thenremove
contaminatedclothing.Payparticularattentiontoflushingthehair,ears,
noseandotherpartsofthebodythatarenoteasilycleaned.
¾ Usecoolwatertopreventskinporesfromopening,sothattheresin
doesnoteasilypenetratetheskin.
¾ Donotusesolventstocleanskin.
¾ Iflargeareasofskinhavebeenexposedtoresin,orifprolongedcontact
resultsinblisters,seekmedicalattention.
¾ Avoidtheaccidentaltransferofresinfromthehandstootherareasof
thebody,especiallytotheeyes.
¾ Ifprotectivecreamwasused,donotreapplyituntiltheskinhasbeen
completelycleansed.
Contact with
Eyes
Ifuncuredresincomesincontactwiththeeyes,flushimmediatelywith
largeamountsofwaterfor15minutesandseekmedicalattention.
¾ Avoidsunlight,fluorescentlight,andothersourcesofultraviolet
radiation.
Thewearingofcontactlenseswhenworkingnearresinisnot
recommended.Ifresinsplashesintotheeyeswhencontactlensesareworn,
immediatelyremovethelensesandflushtheeyeswithwater .
¾ Cleananddisinfectthecontaminatedlenses.
¾ Donotwearcontactlensesuntileyeirritationdisappears.
Ingestion
Ifresinisswallowed,refertothecartridgelabelforspecificinstructions.
Seekmedicalattentionimmediately.
Inhalation
Resinvaporscanbeirritatingtotherespiratorysystem.Ifrespiratory
irritationoccurs,exposethevictimtofreshairimmediately.
¾ Ifthevictimhasstoppedbreathing,performartificialrespirationor
cardiopulmonaryresuscitation.
¾ Seekmedicalattentionimmediately.
¾ Keepthepatientwarmbutnothot.
¾ Neverfeedanythingbymouthtoanunconsciousperson.
¾ Oxygenshouldbeadministeredbyauthorizedpersonnelonly.
