Chapter 6 Measurement procedures
Attaching the stereo optical adapter
See also “3.4 Inspecting the insertion tube” (page 28) for more information on
attaching stereo optical adapters.
WARNING
• Always turn off the illumination with the [LIGHT] button before connecting an optical adapter.
The light may enter directly into your eye and cause an injury.
1 Make sure that the O-ring in the insertion tube distal end or in the
optical adapter is properly attached.
2 Attach the adapter so that there is no movement of the adapter
main body. Rotate the optical adapter in the direction of the arrow A
shown in the figure. Keep the adapter rotated completely and turn
the nut of the optical adapter in the direction of the arrow B shown
in the figure until it is tight.
CAUTION
• Tools or excessive hand force should not be used to secure the tip adapter to the distal end.
• Whether or not the adapter rattles or is loose when it is attached, if it is not firmly attached by
rotating in the direction of arrow A completely, the measurement accuracy deteriorates.
• After installation of the optical adapter, if the distal end of the insertion tube is handled by
grasping the optical adapter, it may turn in the opposite direction of arrow A in the figure even
when the nut is tightened securely. This could result in lowered measurement accuracy.
When handling the distal end of the insertion tube, do not hold it by the optical adapter,
always grasp the insertion tube. However, do not hold it by the angulation section.
