8.5 Cleaning
CAUTION
• Clean the insertion tube immediately after withdrawing it. If you leave it uncleaned, the
equipment may be stained or corroded.
• Do not use a hard cloth or hard brush to clean the insertion tube, doing so may damage it.
• Do not clean the equipment and the optical adapter under running water. Otherwise, the
equipment and the optical adapter may be damaged.
1 Use a clean, soft cloth to wipe any dirt or other foreign matter off of
the insertion tube or instrument. Also thoroughly wipe all dirt,
water, and other foreign matter from the battery cover, interface
connector, slot cover, and interior of the AC adapter cover.
2 If a liquid such as wastewater or machine oil gets on the insertion
tube or instrument, first wipe it with a soft cloth or cotton, and wash
well using a neutral detergent solution and pieces of gauze. Then
wipe it with a piece of soft gauze moistened with clean water, wipe
off the moisture well and dry.
3 Inspect and clean the distal end of the insertion tube and the optical
adapter according to “3.4 Inspecting the insertion tube” (page 28)
and “3.6 Inspecting the optical adapter” (page 32).
