Preparation and inspection
before observation
CAUTION
Be sure to finish the preparation and inspection work described below before use. If any
irregularity is suspected, do not use the instrument but see “Chapter 9 Troubleshooting”
(page 139) to solve the problem. If irregularity is still suspected, contact Olympus. Damage or
irregularity may compromise the correct functioning of the instrument and may result in more
severe damage to the examined subject.
Inspections are not only required before use, but should be conducted periodically.
3.1 Transportation of the instrument
CAUTION
Before transporting the instrument, inspect the exterior for irregularities such as damage,
loose parts, or other problems.
Always turn off the power before moving the instrument. Not doing so may cause a
malfunction.
1 Lift the instrument by the frame.
CAUTION
Never move the equipment around by the insertion tube or cables.
Do not kick the instrument or move it with your feet.
