5 If necessary, start the particle counter.
6 Navigate to the COMM Setup-Network Screen.
7 Enable the edit mode by pressing the Enter key.
8 Enter the TCP/IP addresses provided by your network administrator.
9 Place a check mark in the Enable TCP/IP check box.
10 Exit the edit mode by pressing the Return Arrow softkey.
11 When the restart notification appears, press the Enter key.
12 Connect an Ethernet cable from the particle counter to an Ethernet hub.
To prepare Facility Net for on-line operation:
1 Facility Net configuration is beyond the scope of this manual. Refer to the
Facility Net Operations Manual or contact your Particle Measuring Systems
representative.
Controlling the Particle Counter with Browser Software
You can use your web browser software to control the Lasair II particle counter
from a separate computer through one of two kinds of connection:
• A direct cable connection to a computer
• A connection over an Ethernet network to a computer
Web Browser Interface Advantages
Using a computer-browser to access and control a Lasair II particle counter has the
following advantages:
• The Lasair II particle counter can be accessed and controlled from a remote
location.
• A keyboard and mouse can be used for data entry and editing.
• More data can be displayed on a larger screen.
• Data can be copied from the particle counter directly to the computer’s hard
drive, spreadsheet software, or database software.
Web Browser Interface Functions
• Display the particle and analog data from the Lasair II particle counter
• Configure the setup screens for sampling
• Start or stop sampling
