DOC-246-GDE-Pivot3 Acuity 2.3 Setup & User Guide-v1.0.docx
Acuity Software Platform provides Online and Offline upgrade options, and unavailable choices will be disabled.
Choose the preferred method and click
Start Upgrade.
NOTE: Online upgrades also provide the option to upgrade ESXi if available. This is not optional
for upgrades to Acuity 2.3.1;
ESXi 6.5 is required for this version.
CRITICAL: For all upgrades, ensure the vSMS Web Service and vCenter are not running on the vPG. If the vPG is brought
down for maintenance while hosting either vCenter or the vSMS Web Service, the domain will be unmanageable
until the vPG is brought back online.
Online Upgrades will sequentially upgrade each member node within the vPG. Each node will be placed into
Maintenance Mode, and the Acuity software or the hypervisor and supporting VIBs will be upgraded if required. Client
I/O can continue during the upgrade. The level of client I/O affects the time Online Upgrade requires to complete.
CRITICAL: For data protection purposes, upgrades should not be interrupted once started.
Offline Upgrades typically require less overall time to complete, but are disruptive. Offline Upgrades will result in all
members being rebooted. If the hypervisor credentials have been configured, all guest virtual machines will be shut
down as a result of this operation.
NOTE: Offline upgrades result in all data being inaccessible until the upgrade has completed. To prevent application failure,
ensure that all I/O has stopped before beginning upgrade.
Once the upgrade has completed, click Close.
CRITICAL:
ESXi hosts may not automatically rejoin the managing vCenter after being upgraded to ESXi 6.5 and will have a
status of DISCONNECTED. If this is the case, reconnect manually to each host.
