b. Select the ESXi host in the Navigator panel and navigate to Related Objects > Datastores. Click the New
Datastore icon.
c. For Type, select the radio button next to VMFS. Click Next.
d. VMware will automatically name the new Datastore; change this name as desired and click Next.
e. Choose Assign a new signature (recommended) or Format the disk
if desired. More information on the different
mount options are available from VMware. Click Next.
CRITICAL: Using option Keep existing signature can occasionally cause unpredictable results and is not recommended.
f. Review the details on the summary page and click Finish to complete.
g. The volume clone will now be visible in the Related Objects > Datastores view. VMware will provide a default
string; rename the clone to something more meaningful.
Right-click on the volume clone and click Browse Files.
This will change the view to a screen with the contents of the restored snapshot. The recovered data can now be
deleted, moved, copied, or cloned repeatedly.
Windows
Select a snapshot to clone from Provisioning > [Select a volume] > Snapshot Volume > [Select a Snapshot] >
Clone Snapshot.
Edit the clone’s Name, Performance Policy, and Access Group if desired.
