ZVT Front Panel Tour
1300.0045.62 1.1 E-1
1 Preparing for Use
This chapter gives an overview of the front panel controls and connectors of the network analyzer and
gives all information that is necessary to put the instrument into operation and connect external
devices. Notes on reinstallation of the analyzer software appear at the end of the chapter.
The ZVT is primarily intended to be remote-controlled via the GPIB interface or a LAN connection.
Alternatively it is possible to control the instrument manually using an external monitor in combination
with a mouse (see section Connecting External Accessories on p. 1.10) or a LAN connection (see
section Remote Control in a LAN on p. 1.14).
Attention!
Please make sure to observe the instructions of the following sections so that
you cannot cause damage to the instrument or endanger people. This is of
particular importance when you use the instrument for the first time. Also
observe the general safety instructions at the beginning of this manual.
Front Panel Tour
The front panel of the R&S ZVT network analyzer contains the following controls and connectors:
The STANDBY toggle switch used to initiate the startup procedure or switch the analyzer to
standby mode.
A double USB connector to connect pointing or mass storage devices.
The ground (GND) connector providing the ground of the analyzer's supply voltage.
Tow RF test ports (PORT 1, PORT 2) serving as outputs for the RF stimulus signals and as
inputs for the measured RF signals (response signals). Each test port is complemented by
three pairs of front panel jumpers used to test high power devices and extend the dynamic
range. Up to 6 additional test ports with jumpers can be purchased as options (order no.
1300.1506.03 to 1300.1506.08; see detailed ordering information in the data sheet).
Brief explanations on the controls and connectors and on the rear panel can be found on the next
pages.
