directionincreaseswiththeverticalangle.
Verticalindexerror
Theverticalcircleshouldreadexactly90°(100gon)whenthelineofsightishorizontal.Any
deviationfromthisfigureistermedverticalindexerror.Thisisaconstanterrorthataffectsall
verticalanglereadings.
Beforedeterminingtheinstrumenterrors,level‐uptheinstrumentusingtheelec‐
troniclevel.TheLevel & Plummet isthefirstscreentoappearafterturningon
