5. Apply red Loctite Threadlocker No. 271 to the
shoulder bolt

6. Posit ion the cam stopper (roller side out) onto
the
ba ckside of the threaded s tu d and insta ll the

as her ( Figur e 30).
7. In stall the threaded stud and tighten securel y.
8. In sta ll th e spring onto the cam stopper.

Using needle nose pliers. hook the spring into
the notch in cam stopper (
Figure 14 ). Pu sh the
lower end
of the spring into position on the shelf
of
th e cra nk case (Figure 31 ).
10 . Insta ll the ca m guide ( Figur e 13 ). Apply a
sma
ll am ou nt of bl ue Loctite Thrcadl oc ker No. 242
to the cam guide screw th reads prior to installation.
I I. Install the cam guide screws and tighten
securely.

2. In stall the pawl re tainer (Figure 12 ). Apply
a sma
ll amount of blue Locti te Threadlocker No.
242 to the pawl retainer screw threads prior to
insta ll ation.

3. Insta ll the pawl retainer sc rews and tighten
securel
y.
14. Apply clean engine oil to the gearshift shaft
and
pa rtially in stall th e gearshift shaft and spring
(Figure 32) in
to the cra nk case.

5. Align the center of the cam driven gear wi th
the center of the gearshift shaft gea r (t"i gure 33).

way in until
it bottoms

1 6. In sta ll the washer (Figure 34) onto the
gearshift shaft.

7. Apply a light coal of multipurpose grease to
the gearshift shaft oil seal (Figure 27) in the
external gearshift mecha
ni sm cover.
