1.
Apply assembly oil
or
engine oil
to
the
inner
races
of
a
ll
bearings
in
both crankcase halves.

2.
Install the inner portion
of
the oil pump as
described
in
this chapter.
3.
Set the left-hand crankcase
half
on wood blocks
or
a wood holding fixture.
4.
Po
sition the crankshaft assembly with the
alternator rotor tapered end going in first into the
left-hand crankcase half.
Po
sition the connecting
rod within the piston clearance area in the top
portion of the
cra
nkcase half.
5.
Insta
ll
the crankshaft into the left-hand
crankcase half. Carefully
ta
p on
th
e right-hand e
nd
of
the crankshaft to make sure
it
is properly seated.
6.
Insta
ll
the balancer shaft assembly as described
in thi s chapter.
