alternator electrical cable and emission control

the frame.

8.
Remove the bolt (Figure
ll
) securing the
Stato
r
assembly electrical cable
to
the external shift
mechanism
cover.
9. Remove the engine left-hand crankcase cover
as
described in Chapter Four.
10.
To
remove the alternator stator assembly from
the left-hand crankcase cover, perform the
following:
a. Turn the alternator cover ups
id
e down on
several shop cloths
to protect the finish.
b.
Remove the bolts (A, Figure
12
) securing the
stator assembly
to
the ahernator cover.
c.
Remove the screws securing the pickup co
il
(B. Figure
12
) and the wiring harness strap
and clamp.
d. Remove the bolt and wire clamp (C. Figure
12
) securing the electrical wire harness
to
the
left-hand crankcase cover.
e.
Remove the rubber grommet (
0,
Figure
12
)
from the receptacle
in
the alternator cover and
remove the stator assembly from the cover.

Install
by
reversing these rem
oval
steps. Note
the following during

stallation.
