Check the axle
for
wear and straightness. Use
V-blocks and a dial indicator as shown
in
Figure
6. If the runout is
0.2
mm
(0.01
in.) or greater. the
axle should be replaced .

in

chapter.

Remove the spacer. from the right-hand side
and left-hand
si
de. from
th
e hub.
3.
Re
mov
e
th
e bolls
(A.
Figure 8) securing the
brake
di
sc and remo
ve
the disc.
4. Before proceed
in
g further. inspect the wheel
bearings
as
described
in
this chapter. If they must
be replaced. proceed as follows.

ol setup (Suzuki part
No.
09941-50110)
can
be
used
to
remove the wheel
bearings
as
follows:
a.
In
sert the adaptor
(A.
Figure 9) imo one of
the wheel
bearing~
from the outer surface
of
the wheel.
b. Turn the wheel over and insert the wedge bar
(
B.
Figure 9) into the back
si
de
of
the adaptor.
Tap the wedge bar and force
it
into the slit
in
the adaptor. This will wedge the adaptor
against the inner bearing
ra
ce.
c.
Tap
on the end
of
the wedge bar with a
hammer (Figure
10
) and drive the bearing out
of the hub. Remove the bearing and the
di
stan
ce
collar.
d. Repeat
for
the bearing on the other side.
58. If the spec
ial
tools are not used. perform the
following:
a.
To
remove the right- and left-hand bearings
and
di
stance collar.

sert a soft-aluminum
or
brass drift into one s
id
e
of
the hub.
b.
Pu
sh the distance collar
ove
r
to
one side and
place the drift on the inner race
of
the lower
bearing.
c.
Tap
the bearing o
ut
of
the hub with a hammer.
working around the perimeter
of
the inner
ra
ce.
d. Repeat
for
the bearing on the o
th
er side.
6.
Clean the inside and the outside
of
the hub
wi
th
so
lven!. Dry with compressed air.
