ClearPath-EC motors in this family require a DC Bus Motor Power
Supply such as the Teknic IPC-5 (75VDC) described later in this section
and online here
. Note: Properly specified third-party power supplies may
also work with ClearPath-EC motors.
ClearPath-EC also supports the use of an optional Logic Power Backup
Supply for applications requiring uninterrupted Logic Power to keep the
motor's processor, communication, and position sensor circuits alive.

Users can opt to use a Logic Power Backup Supply for applications that
require uninterrupted power to the motor's low power systems (processor,
communication, position sensor circuits, etc.).
Note: Teknic stocks a Logic Backup Power Supply that is 24VDC@6.5A.
For more information visit the Teknic webstore and search on part
number PWR-IO-24VDC, or click here
for a direct link.
The POWER4-HUB-S power distribution board requires a Logic Power
Backup Supply in addition to the main DC Bus Motor Power Supply.
Important: Logic Power alone cannot power the motor windings for
motion.

x Check for proper DC power polarity before connecting power
to a ClearPath. Reversing DC power polarity will permanently
damage the motor. Follow this link
for more information.
x Before connecting a power cable to a ClearPath-EC motor,
verify that the supply is turned off and discharged to prevent
electrical arcing from damaging the connectors.
x Note: When a ClearPath motor is powered up, a startup
routine energizes the motor for a few milliseconds. During
this startup routine a small amount of motion may occur at
the motor shaft (<1˚ typical).
On tightening M12 connectors. For a reliable seal, tighten the
communication and power cables between 0.8 Nm-1.4 Nm. Tip: When
M12 cable connectors are properly tightened there should be no more
than 1-2 threads visible on the motor connectors.
