Frequency
Timing measurement. The reciprocal of the period. Meas-
ured
in
Hertz (Hz)
where
1 Hz = 1 cycle
per
second.
GPIB
(General Purpose Interface Bus)
An
interconnection
bus
and
protocol
that
allows
you
to
connect
multiple
instruments
in
a
network
under
the
con-
trol
of
a controller. Also
known
as IEEE 488 bus.
Transfers
data
with
eight
parallel
data
lines, five
control
lines,
and
three
handshake
lines.
Graticule
A
grid
on
the
display
screen
that
serves as
horizontal
and
vertical
scales. You
can
use
it
to
visually
measure
waveform
parameters.
Ground (GND) coupling
Coupling
option
that
disconnects
the
input
signal from
the
vertical
system.
Hardcopy
A copy,
in
a format useable
by
a
printer
or
plotter,
of
the
display.
Holdoff, trigger
The
time
after a trigger signal
that
must
elapse
before
the
trigger
circuit
will
accept
another
trigger signal.
Horizontal Axis
Usually,
the
axis along
which
an
oscilloscope
measures
the
timing
of
a signal.
The
exception
to
this
is
XY
mode.
(See
definition
below.)
The
timing
of
a signal is
usually
meas-
ured
in
seconds-per-division,
or
fractions
of
a
second-per-
period.
Inverted Waveform
A waveform
that
is
flopped
along its
horizontal
axis, so
that
it
appears
upside-down.
Intensity
Displays brightness.
