GENERAL
1. Check:
Electrolyte level
Below the minimum level mark 1
Add distilled water to the proper
level.
Electrolyte specific gravity
Less than 1.28 Recharge the bat-
tery.
NOTE:
Batteries vary among manufacturers.
Consult your battery manufacturer’s
instructions.
First, disconnect the negative lead, then
the positive lead when removing the bat-
tery from a boat.
Electrolyte specific gravity:
1.28 at 20 ˚C (68 ˚F)
Spark plugs
1. Inspect:
Electrodes 1
Cracks/excessive wear Replace the
spark plug(-s).
Insulator 2
Damage Replace the spark plug(-s).
2. Clean:
Spark plugs
(with a spark plug cleaner or wire
brush)
3. Measure:
Spark plug gap a
Out of specification Regap.
Spark plug gap:
1.1 mm (0.043 in)
