7-5 Manual Release of Holding Brake
7-5 Manual Release of Holding Brake
The holding brake on the vertical type robot can be released. Since the movable part will drop when
the brake is released, attaching a stopper to protect the tool tip from being damaged is recommended.
1) Use the same procedure up to step 4 in "7-3
Direct Teaching".
2) Press
F4
(next) to change the function dis-
play, then press
F1
(BRK).

brake control

3) The axis selection screen appears to release the
brake.
To release the brakes on all axes, press
F1
(ALL). To release the brake on the X-axis only,
press
F2
(X). To release the brake on the Y-
axis only, press
F3
(Y).
4) A confirmation message appears asking
whether to release the brake.
To release the brake, press
F1
(yes).
To cancel releasing the brake, press
F2
(no).
5) The screen returns to step 2.
The brake stays released until
F1
(BRK) is
pressed again or the robot servo is turned on.
