TheZXA10C300supportsthefollowingthreeSpanningTreeProtocol(STP)modes:
lSingleSpanningTreeProtocol(SSTP)
lRapidSpanningTreeProtocol(RSTP)

SSTPMode
SSTPcomplieswiththeIEEE802.1dstandard.ItiscompatiblewithSTP ,RSTPandMSTP .
ThebridgeinSSTPmodecaninterworkwiththebridgeinRSTPandMSTPmodes.
RSTPMode
RSTPcomplieswiththeIEEE802.1wstandard.RSTPprovidesfasterconvergencethan
SSTP .Whenthenetworktopologychanges,theportstateoftheredundantswitchport
canbequicklychangedfromDiscardtoForwardinapoint-to-pointconnectioncondition.
MSTPMode
MSTPcomplieswiththeIEEE802.1sstandard.MSTPisaddedwiththeconcepts
ofinstanceandVLANmapping.SSTPandRSTPmodescanbeconsideredasa
specialMSTPinstance,inwhichcase,theinstanceis0.TheMSTPmodeprovidesfast
convergenceandloadbalancingforVLAN.
InSSTPandRSTPmodes,theVLANconceptdoesnotexist,andeachporthasonlyone
state.Namely,theporthasthesameforwardingstateindifferentVLANs.
InMSTPmode,multiplespanning-treeinstancescanexist,andaporthasdifferent
forwardingstatesindifferentVLANs.Multiplesub-treeinstancescanbegeneratedinthe
MultipleSpanningTree(MST)regiontorealizeloadbalancing.
MSTPisappliedtotheredundantnetwork.MSTPcannotonlyprovidefastconvergence
butalsodistributeowsofdifferentVLANstotherespectivepaths,whichprovidesagood
loadsharingmechanismforredundantlinks.
