Working on the main transmission nut,
make the crankshaft turn until the rear
cylinder reaches the TDC in combus-
tion phase.
•
Insert the pin in the crankshaft lock
(timing pin) in order to block crankshaft
rotation.
NOTE
THE SPECIAL TOOL IS ONLY USED FOR IDENTIFYING
THE CORRECT CRANKSHAFT POSITION.
DO NOT USE IT FOR TIGHTENING OPERATIONS.
•
Make the timing shaft turn so that the timing shaft hole matches the head holes.
•
Position the pin so as to lock the rear cylinder timing cam.
NOTE
CHECK THAT THE CAMSHAFT IS FREE, NOT RESTING ON THE BUCKET TAPPETS.
•
Tighten the fixing screw of the rear cyl-
inder timing shaft gear.
•
Release the rear camshaft and the
crankshaft from the locking pins.
•
Operating on the primary gear nut, turn the crankshaft by 77° clockwise so as to bring the
front cylinder piston to the TDC in combustion phase.
•
Insert the pin in the crankshaft lock (timing pin) in order to block crankshaft rotation.
