APRILIA MXV 450 - Cam Timing

•
Position the timing compartment clos-
ing flange.
•
Tighten the three fixing screws of the
timing compartment closing flange.
•
Lock the primary drive pinion using the
specific special tool.
•
Position the timing gear control gear,
matching the reference with the one on
the main drive pinion.
•
Position the locking washer (1).
•
Screw the fixing nut (2) of the timing
control wheel.
•
Bend the washer tab (1).

BIG BANG TIMING
IF THE ENGINE IS TO BE TIMED WITH THE Big Bang METHOD, IT IS COMPULSORY TO CHECK
WITH AXONE IF THE CONTROL UNIT IS MAPPED WITH THE SAME METHOD SO AS TO AVOID
ANY MALFUNCTION.
•
Preassemble chains, chain guide slid-
ers and chain tensioner and release
the free camshaft gears (fitted on not
keyed taper seats)
•
Remove the timing hole screw from its
seat.
•
Place the crankshaft lock (timing pin) in
its position.
