Throttle position sensor
Function
To tell the position of the throttle to the throttle control unit.
Operation / operating principle
The throttle valve position sensor works as a variable resistance according to the throttle rotation.
Level in wiring diagram:throttle position sensor (TPS).
Location:
sensor: on the right cylinder throttle body.
connector: on the potentiometer.
Electrical characteristics:
PIN 1-2: throttle closed approx.1.3 kOhm; throttle open approx. 4.3 kOhm (at 20 °C - 68 °F).
PIN 1-3: approx. 4.3 kOhm (at 20 °C - 68 °F)
Pin-out:
PIN 1: ground connection
PIN 2: potentiometer signal (from 0.8 V with closed throttle to 4 V with throttle open)
PIN 3: supply voltage + 5V
AXONE: PARAMETERS
Potentiometer on throttle
0.8 (at minimum) - 4 (full load) V
Correct throttle position
0 (minimum) - 95 (full load) %
AXONE: ELECTRICAL ERRORS
throttle sensor 122 - shorted to negative.
Error cause
If shorted to negative: voltage equal to zero has been detected at PIN C3 of the control unit
connector.
