Chapter 3. Eclipse Edge Installation
NOTE:
To avoid curl-back, do not stretch the final two turns of the top layer
of vinyl tape.
Installing Edge IDUs
IDUspe 16x is a rack mounted unit, which pairs with an ODUspe via PoE Cat 5e cable
to make up an Edge terminal.
Edge IDU Power Cable
The power cable and 3-pin Phoenix type connector are supplied separately. The cable
is nominally 5 m, and the wires are 4 mm
2
.
For an isolated-from-ground dc power supply system, the blue (or red) wire must be
connected to +Ve pin; the black wire to -Ve.
For a power supply system that has one polarity grounded, the blue (or red) wire
must be used for the live conductor (the conductor that is not at ground potential).
For example, with a -48Vdc power supply the -Ve conductor (the live conductor)
must use the blue (or red) wire, and is connected to the -Ve pin.
The green or green/yellow wire for chassis ground is connected to the center, ground
pin.
The power supply connections within the IDUspe are isolated from ground. The
ground wire connection on the power plug may be used to provide an IDUspe ground,
but must be in addition to the main IDUspe ground wired to the ground stud on one
of the IDUspe rack ears.
As both the +Ve and -Ve inputs are isolated from chassis ground, either input can be
source- grounded, which means the IDUspe can be used with either +Ve or -Ve
grounded power supplies.
