Installing and Removing SFP Modules
Step 3 Insert a dust plug into the optical ports of the SFP module to keep the optical 
interfaces clean.
Step 4 Unlock and remove the SFP module, as shown in Figure 3-28, Figure 3-29, and 
Figure 3-30.
• If the module has a Mylar tab latch, pull the tab straight out so that you 
remove the SFP module from the port in a parallel direction. Do not twist or 
pull the tab because you could disconnect it from the SFP module.

If the module has an actuator button latch, use your thumb to push inward on 
the wedge to free the locking pin, and use your index finger to grip the ridge 
on top of the SFP module. Pull straight out to remove the module.

If the module has a bale-clasp latch, pull the bale out and down to eject the 
module. If the bale-clasp latch is obstructed and you cannot use your index 
finger to open it, use a small, flat-blade screwdriver or other long, narrow 
instrument to open the bale-clasp latch.
