10. Examples
In the following sections we will walk you through some real-world examples of using the
different modes in StackShot 3X. Be sure to check out our website and follow us on YouTube

10.1 Focus Stacking – Single Axis
Here we will start from the beginning to perform a focus stack of an ant. Here is the physical
setup for the stack:
Yes, that little black spec in front of the lens is what we’re going to photograph! A small light is
placed above the ant to try and illuminate the subject so that it is visible through the view-
finder. At high magnifications the lack of available light can make it difficult to set the beginning
and end point for the stack.
First we’ll need to get into single-axis focus-stacking mode. To do this first click on the settings
button in the upper-right corner of the display:
That will bring up the settings for the controller. Then we want to press the first button which
will let us choose the mode. The mode we’re after is Stacking->Single Axis:
