7.4 Routine cleaning
I
m
mediate clean up is recommended for any liquid spilled or dripped inside the instru-
ment. Cleaning can also be performed as a preventative measure.
The most common area for spills, drips, and material build up is the paddles attached to
the pushers. The paddles are critical for syringe detection and in minimizing waste
volumes.
To clean the paddles, wipe the surface of the paddles, the paddle hinge, and the paddle
underside with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol.
If fluid is spilled on the sample arm, it may become sticky, preventing it from moving
properly during formulation. To clean the sample arm, remove it from the instrument
as described in Section 5.4 Replace sample arm, on page 73.
To clean the instrument body, lid, and all internal components, wipe down the surfaces
with one of the following:
Warm water and a mild non-abrasive detergent
Ethanol
Isopropyl alcohol
The lid should be wiped with a soft cloth to avoid scratches that could impact visibility.
