If you are experiencing a timeout when pinging 192.100.100.98, verify that the network adapter of your host PC is correctly installed and configured. Ensure the correct crossed-over patch cable is connected and that the expansion box is switched on. Also, check if the expansion box is configured to the correct IP address and confirm that the IP address of the host PC is set to 192.100.100.1.
