Expansion I/O and Memory
Additional memory and I/O may be added with a Memory and I/O Expansion card or an
I/O Expansion Card (Part numbers are listed in Chapter 7, “Component Ordering Informa-
tion”). The expansion card provides the following additional capabilities:
◆ 32 TTL Inputs (I17 through I48),
◆ 16 TTL Outputs (O9 through O24),
◆ four 12-bit Analog inputs (ADC2 through ADC5)
[only available on Memory and I/O card], and
◆ up to 32 KB of nonvolatile memory to the basic PDM for program storage
[only available on Memory and I/O card].
“Option Card Installation” on page 2-6 describes the installation and mounting of the Expansion
I/O card or a Memory and I/O Expansion card. P1 and P2 are designed to connect to a 24-
channel, Opto-22, Generation 4, I/O mounting rack (or compatible) through a 50-pin ribbon
cable. Table 3.15 defines the relationship between P1 and P2 connections on the IQ and terminals
on the expansion board.
The first eight positions on P1 and P2 are outputs and correspond to module positions 16-23 on
a 24-channel expansion board. The last 16 positions of P1 and P2 are inputs and correspond to
module positions 0-15 on a 24-channel expansion board.
TIP
Firmware Version 2.00 or higher is required to use an Expansion I/O card or a
Memory and I/O Expansion card.
