Consumption & Demand
Energy is p roduced and co nsumed w ithin an electrical d istribution sy stem. S ome
sites p roduce energy for t he grid ( Received Energy), others co nsume en ergy f rom
the g rid ( Delivered E nergy), and st ill o thers b oth co nsume an d p roduce energy
for/from the grid. The Net Consumption is the difference between energy that is
used an d p roduced. Therefore, a n egative v alue f or N et C onsumption i ndicates
that t he s ite is p roducing m ore t han i t is co nsuming, o r a r eceived n et
consumption.
The Consumption & Demand window is a quick look at some of the key components
of the Detailed Information window. Here you find a cross-sectional summary view
of t he a mount a nd m akeup (Active or Reactive) of t he Net Energy (Received –
Delivered) produced/consumed by a site.
A D emand is an ar bitrary m easurement o f average power u sage per configurated
unit t ime. A d emand is m easured in u nits of p ower even t hough a t ime el ement
does ex ist, w hile P eak D emand is t he highest d emand calculated s ince t he l ast
demand reset. Refer to Energy Meter in the Advanced Settings section to reset the
demand of your energy meter.
