Order of Installation Steps
Onceyouhavechosenasuitablesite,youcanproceedtoinstalltheD2switchcomponents.
Dependingonthemountingoptionyouchoose,andwhetheryoudecidetousetheswitchasa
freestandingdevice,theorderinwhichyoucompletetheinstallationmayvary.Usethefollowing
stepsasa
guideline:
1. Attachanantistaticwriststraptoyourwrist.
2. DetermineasuitablelocationfortheD2installationandproceedwithoneofthefollowing
options:
a. UsingtheSwitchasaFreestandingDevice
b. “InstallingtheSwitchintoaRack”(page 2‐4)
c. “InstallingtheSwitchUnderaTable”(page 2‐10)
d. “Installingthe
SwitchonaWall”(page 2‐12)
e. “InstallingtheSwitchintheLockboxandMountingonaWall”(page 2‐15)
3. Connectpowertotheswitch.Refer to“ConnectingPowertotheSwitch”onpage 2‐26.
4. Connecttotheconsoleport.Referto“ConnectingtotheConsolePort”onpage 2‐27.
5. Connecttothenetwork(includinginstallingoptionalSFPs).Referto“Connectingtothe
Network”onpage 2‐28.
6. Installtheoptionalplasticcover.Referto“InstallingtheOptionalPlasticCover”onpage 2‐33.
7. Completetheinstallation.Referto“CompletingtheInstallation”onpage 2‐35.
Using the Switch as a Freestanding Device
IfyouareinstallingtheD2switchasafreestandingdevice,chooseanappropriateflat,secure
location,suchasadesktop,and:
1. Ifdesired,installtheoptionalrubberfeetunderneaththeswitchbyaffixingonesecurelyin
eachofthefourcorners.
2. (Optional)ConnecttheD2‐HIPWR‐POEpowercombineras
describedin“ConnectingaD2‐
HIPWR‐POEPowerCombiner”onpage 2‐25.
3. Proceedtoconnectpowertotheswitchasdescribedin“ConnectingPowertotheSwitch”on
page 2‐26.
