Vertical path position Straight path position
Explanations When scanning multiple sheets of standard-size
originals, or when scanning thin paper or receipts,
place the scanner in the vertical path position.
Scanned originals are ejected to the output tray at
the top of the scanner.
When scanning thick or long originals, passports,
cards, and so on, place the scanner in the straight
path position.
Scanned originals are ejected to the output slot at
the front of the scanner.
