Autotest in Far End Source Mode
Use Far End Source mode to measure power or power loss
at one wavelength on individual fibers.
Far End Source mode requires a stand-alone optical source,
such as a DTX smart remote with a fiber module.
You can also use other sources, such as a Fluke Networks
SimpliFiber
®
source or LS-1310/1550 laser source.
Figure 7-16 shows the equipment required for measuring
loss in Far End Source mode.
Note
The Autotest in Far End Source mode does not
show a PASS/FAIL result, limit, or margin if the
selected test limit calculates loss based on fiber
length. An example of such a limit is the
TIA-568B Fiber Backbone limit. The tester does not
measure length in Far End Source mode.
