FAULT CAUSE REMEDY
10. NO HF
Mains switch ON;
control lamp is lit up;
HF-selector switch at pos. "1"
11. ARC SOMETIMES BREAKS
(only applies to manual electrode
welding)
Over/undervoltage indicator is not
lit up
7. NO GAS,
all other functions OK.
Gas cylinder empty
Change gas cylinder
Pressure regulator defective Change regulator
Gas hose either not connected,
or else faulty
Connect gas hose to pressure regulator;
replace faulty hose
Welding torch faulty Replace the torch
Gas solenoid valve Y1 is defective Change the solenoid valve
TC 3 control system is defective;
relay for gas valve does not magnetize
Change the TC 3
8. POOR ARC-IGNITION (TIG)
Gas pre-flow time set too short
Increase gas pre-flow,
esp. with longer hose packs
HF is too weak See point 9 below.
Tungsten electrode is alloyed up,
or tip is damaged.
Sharpen tip of tungsten electrode
Start-arc current is too small
for the diameter of the electrode
Increase start-arc current;
if possible, use a thinner electrode
Sharpen tip of electrode very exactly
Gas nozzle dirty;
HF jumps over the gas nozzle onto
the workpiece
Use a new ceramic nozzle
Gas nozzle is too small for
the diameter of electrode used
Use a bigger gas nozzle
Unsuitable alloy of tungsten electrode
Use a thoriated or cerium-oxide
alloyed tungsten electrode
Torch is damaged:
insulated torch components
such as torch body, protective hose
etc. are faulty
Replace the damaged parts
or change the torch
9. HF IS TOO WEAK No shielding gas, or not enough See point 7 above
FHF 5-1 HF-ignition device is faulty See point 10 below
Fuse 19F1, 19F2, 19F3 or 19F4 (42V~)
on WISIT TIG booster transformer pcb
is defective
Change the fuse
Plug 22X2 or 22X3 is faulty Check plug connections
Electrode gap in the ignition-device
spark gap is too small,
or else electrodes are oxidized
Clean the spark gap, and set the
electrode gap to 0,6 mm if necessary
(see instructions on p. 41)
Ignition device is defective Replace FHF 5-1 ignition device
Arc-drop voltage of electrode too high
(e.g. grooved electrode)
If possible, use different type
of electrode or a machine capable
of delivering greater welding current
Mains cable too long Recommended cross-sectional areas:
up to 50m - TT330/2,5mm
2
TT450/4,0mm
2
Cross-sectional area of cable too small
up to 100m - TT330/4,0mm
2
TT450/6,0mm
2
TC 3 control unit is defective Exchange TC 312. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE
TO REGULATE THE
WELDING CURRENT
(without remote control unit)
