CAUTION!
If the system is operating, to avoid temperature rise do not leave any bay
empty longer than necessary.
2. If further expansion (to more than 24TB) is intended, continue with the "Procedure of
Storage Expansion starting with 24TB or more" on page 479.
3. Reboot the ETERNUS CS800 via the remote management pages, see "Reboot &

17.1.3 Procedure of Storage Expansion starting with 24TB or more
If the server of the Entry model is already fully equipped with disks, further capacity
enhancement is supported by connecting up to three ETERNUS JX40 S2 storage modules.
The enhancement can be done in up to six steps with 16TB each up to a maximum of 120TB
in total.
Figure "Disk bays in JX40 S2 used for storage expansion from 24TB to up to 120TB" on page
480 shows how many storage modules must be connected and which slots of them have to
be filled up with disks to reach each supported increment of capacity. Always six or a
multiple of six 3.5” 4TB Nearline SAS 7,200 rpm hard disks must be inserted.
