19.1.4 Check the pilot and equipment
1 Make sure the pilot is certified to operate the X100.
2 Check if the pilot needs any additional permits (remote pilot license, radio certificate for
use of the 2.4 GHz modem, ...).
3 Be aware that the pilot is legally responsible for the operation of the aircraft.
4 Check if the pilot is in good condition, both physical and mental.
5 Keep log files of the pilot hours and used equipment for each flight.
6 Check if all equipment is in good condition and well prepared.
19.1.5 Know your safe operating envelope
1 Make sure you know all aspects of safe operation within the limits of the X100 and the
project.
2 Use the checklist before, during and after the flight.
3 Make sure the crew to control the X100 consists of two persons: a pilot and an observer.
They must be able to communicate properly.
4 Make sure the crew understands the purpose and the phases of this particular mission.
5 Pay special attention during take-off and landing. Most of the failures occur during these
phases of the flight.
