Prepare for flight
Flight plan
2 Define the project location:
● Online
● Google maps ™ functionality: Fill in your location of interest and click Search. The
Project map shows the area around this location using Google maps ™ .
● KMZ or KML file: Click Open KMZ/L, select the KMZ or KML file you want to load
and click Open. The Project map view displays the area around the location speci-
fied in the file using Google maps ™ . Supported features are place marks and poly-
gons (coloring not supported).
● GPS: Click Fix by GPS. The Project map displays the area around your current loca-
tion using Google maps ™ .
● Offline
Custom map: Click Import map, select the custom map you want to load and click
Open. The Project map displays the customized map.

OTE: Be aware that the zoom level is fixed using this option.
3 Create a project background map. Move and scale the Project map to ensure the optimal
display of the project area:
● The project area should be centered in the Project map.
● The project area should cover 25 to 50 % of the Project map. In no case should the
project area lay outside the Project map.
● The launching and landing location should both lay within the Project map.

OTE: Keep in mind that scan areas might need to be rotated depending on the wind
direction.
4 Indicate the project area (optional). In the Project map you can mark the project area.
Click to set the first boundary point. Set all boundary points until you have a purple poly-
gon which defines the project area.

OTE: To clear all set boundary points, click Clear area.
5 Add project remarks (optional). In the Add project remarks field you can add additional
information such as contact info, obstacle info, ...
6 Save the project. Enter the Project name and click Save.

OTE: When using Google maps ™ , the Project map is saved together with the eight
surrounding map tiles at the same zoom level.
