12.7.2 Disinfectant (D2)
Remove the inspiratory and expiratory valve
lids and place them in a fine mesh box
together with the valve cages. Lower the parts
into the disinfectant fluid and make sure they
are completely submerged and no air pockets
remain inside. Let the disinfectant act
according to the manufacturers
recommendations and instructions.
To ensure maintained functionality of the
system, use only tested and validated
disinfectants:
• Cidex OPA
12.7.3 Rinse after disinfection
Cleaning adapters used when rinsing after
disinfection must have been disinfected using
one of the methods outlined in this chapter.
Use deionized water when rinsing after
disinfection to avoid mineral scale build-up.
1. Rinse the parts thoroughly in water
according to instructions in section 11.6,
page 246, to remove all traces of
disinfectant. Take care to rinse the
inspiratory and expiratory valve
screwthreads and lids thoroughly before
attaching the lids back onto the patient
cassette.
2. Make sure as little water as possible
remains in the patient cassette and
volume reflector before drying.
3. Proceed to section 11.9, page 253, for
drying instructions.
CAUTION: Check for residuals on the
equipment before proceeding to the next
section.
