8. Equine Fibrinogen Test
Step 4:
From the Home Screen, touch the
Equine Fib-
rinogen button to start the test.
Step 5:
When the message Please insert new cartridge
flashes on the screen, insert the Heska Ele-
ment COAG
™
test cartridge completely into
the cartridge slot on the front of the Analyzer.
The cartridge must have the label facing up-
ward and the sample well sticking out of the
Analyzer.
Step 6:
On the on-screen keyboard, enter the cartridge
code (printed on the cartridge pouch label) in
the entry field and touch Done.
Step 7:
Touch
Confirm
to acknowledge that the blood
has been obtained in a citrate test tube, that the
tube was appropriately filled, and that whole
blood sample was spun to platelet poor plasma
at minimum 7000 g × minutes.
Step 8:
Touch
Patient ID
and enter the necessary infor-
mation using the on-screen keyboard. Touch
Done to confirm.
Entering Sample ID is optional but recom-
mended to aid in finding the result in the Ana-
lyzer’s database.
Step 9:
Touch
Next
to continue. The
Cartridge Warm-
ing Up screen opens.
It takes approximately 5 minutes for the Ana-
lyzer to warm up the test cartridge to
99 °F
or
37
◦
C
depending on the environment’s temper-
ature. Lower and higher room temperatures
may change the warm up time.
